Who we are
Todd Rutkin started his cutting business in the early 50’s by making winter apparel on the east coast. After deciding to move to sunny California, Todd decided to change up his service offerings from winter apparel to a more climate appropriate market.
Todd Rutkin inc. began working on everything from; denim pants & jackets to swimwear and athletic apparel with his small team that was led by his son & daughter Stu & Jan Rutkin. The family run operation quickly began picking up momentum which required them to grow their operations as well as the team. This is where Abe Garcia was acquired by Todd to join his team and to help manage operations. Soon after Abe’s arrival, Todd Rutkin inc. began to dive into new ideas as to how they would manage the increased amount of units the facility was taking on. This is where the first Gerber digital cutter was put in place in 1991.
The introduction of digital cutting only expanded the offerings of Todd Rutkin inc. even further to now including services in; Digitizing, Grading, marking, bias cutting, fusing and embroidery. These new services propelled T.R.I. to more business than ever which led to Todd’s vision being fulfilled. Unfortunately Todd would not make it past 1991 to see where his business would go to next. The new generation was taken over by his daughter Jan Rutkin who then appointed Abe Garcia as her right hand to continue the legacy of her father.T.R.I. would continue to grow under Jan & Abe with 2 new additions Abi & Clint Garcia (sons of Abe) who would assist with production, 2021 was the year in which the torch would be passed yet again to Abe, due to the untimely passing of Jan Rutkin.
Currently the T.R.I. legacy is being carried on by Abe and his sons where the same values of quality and speed remain the same and will carry on for as long as they can.
